Project Description

This study aims to see to what degree Avatar 2 (Avatar: The Way of Water) was popular with diverse U.S. audiences. James Cameron’s original picture, Avatar, was a massive success in theaters and is ranked #1 for the highest-grossing film. The newest release, Avatar: The Way of Water, quickly has scaled to be ranked at #3 for the highest-grossing films.

The research for this study explores what Black Americans and the Hispanic community thought about the film, whether they enjoyed it or not, male vs female differences, Hispanic interest by acculturation level, and more. Methodology

This analysis was extrapolated from a data set of 84,383 conversations on Twitter to find if Avatar 2 was popular with diverse audiences. From these posts, 5,253 were from verified U.S. Hispanics, and 1,271 was from verified Black Americans. All data was gathered from 01/08/2023 – 01/17/2023.
