Disney+ | Entertainment Trends from a Multicultural Audience
Project Description
Over the past few months, there have been many new shows and movies being introduced to Disney+, attracting new costumers and sparking conversations. These conversations were analyzed by O.Y.E. to find Disney+ entertainment and conversational trends to better understand what consumers say about their watching preferences.
The Disney+ library holds a wide range of content, from action movies like Star Wars to classic princess movies, but their library continues to grow as they create new shows and movies exclusive to Disney+. The most popular example of their exclusive content would be the live-action remake of Mulan. This was a highly anticipated movie that was postponed due to Covid-19 and finally released within the last month. Not only did it generate excitement for the release of the movie, but it also had generated controversy relating to Disney’s cooperation with the Chinese Government, as well as the additional price set by Disney+.
Methodology
In this O.Y.E. Intelligence Report, conversations that mentioned a variation of Disney+ such as Disney Plus or DisneyPlus, were collected. We then narrowed the scope of the search to only conversations from users who were from the United States.
This analysis was extrapolated from a data set of 46,534 conversations on Twitter, of which 15,126 were from verified U.S. Hispanics and 9,283 were from verified Black Americans. All data was gathered from 08/22/2020 – 09/21/2020.
