As the NFL season is set to kickoff, Hispanics from all over the Americas are turning to support their beloved teams.
OYE! software analyzed conversations to determine team preferences among Hispanics regarding three of the top teams in the NFL. Among these teams, the most popular football team among Hispanics was the Dallas Cowboys as they led in absolute volume of mentions compared to the Patriots and Steelers. The gap between the Cowboys and the other two teams may be a result of the Cowboys embracing the sizeable Hispanic fan base throughout the years as well as their relative proximity to NFL fans that reside in Mexico.
Mexico has more than 28.3 million NFL fans, 9.9 million of which are self-proclaimed diehard fans.
OYE! insights found that the Cowboys led all teams in Hispanic male conversation, contrasting the Patriots which led female conversation. The Cowboys also had the highest percentage of Spanish conversations among Hispanics while the Steelers led English usage among Hispanics.
This analysis was extrapolated from a sample of 30,036 conversations on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram of which 3,980 were from verified Hispanics.
